musings on the LGBTQIA+ community and the bible

🌈✨ “You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” – Matthew 7:5
Too often, this verse is forgotten when it comes to how we treat the LGBTQIA+ community. Jesus wasn’t telling us to go around fixing others—He was reminding us to examine ourselves first, with humility, grace, and honesty.
Before pointing fingers or casting judgment, we’re called to look inward. Are we walking in love? Are we offering mercy, not condemnation? The truth is, none of us are without our own “planks.” And Jesus didn’t ask us to sit in judgment—He asked us to love.
Being LGBTQIA+ is not a “speck” that needs removing. Being who you are—fully, beautifully, truthfully—is not a flaw to fix. What does need removing is the judgment, the self-righteousness, and the fear that cause harm and division.
Let’s lead with love, not with “plank-eyed” religion.
